IRISH FILM FESTIVAL BOSTON

The Irish Film Festival Boston is one of the true highlights of the Boston Irish calendar each March, or any time of the year for that matter.  This year's 14th annual Festival runs from Thursday, March 20 through Sunday, March 23 at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square.  It's another stellar line-up of great Irish films - shorts, documentaries and features - that get to the essence of Ireland's film industry.

This year's notable guests include Oscar-nominated director Steph Green (New Boy), actress Ruth McCabe (Philomena), comedian/actor Dylan Moran (Breakfast Wine) and actress Deirdre O'Kane (Intermission).

The Irish Pub, a tribute to the greatest institution in Irish society - the pub, or more specifically, the traditional Irish publicans who run them.

Plays with: Handing Down the Tunes, which covers the life of Clare born musician Tommy McCarthy, beginning with his early days growing up on the family farm near Kilmichil, and learning to play music at the age of 9. A turning point came when he first heard the great piper, Leo Rowsome.
