Rockport Music – Always Sublime


Folk music or roots music, classical or chamber, jazz or world music – everything sounds sublime and inspiring at Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport, MA. Curated by Rockport Music, this acoustically brilliant concert venue offers a stellar schedule of live performance year after year to this scenic fishing town north of Boston.

All summer, visitors can spend the day photographing seascapes, lobster traps and fishing boats, buying artisan paintings, jewelry and scrimshaw, or dining in quaint outdoor restaurants, before heading indoors for a perfect evening of live music.

On June 7, Nashville singer/songwriter Liz Longley (pictured above) returns by popular demand, joined by singer Sam Robbins. Mandolinist and singer Sam Bush of Kentucky plays his magical blend of jazz, folk, bluegrass and newgrass on July 18, followed by American roots music stand-outs AJ Lee and Blue Summit, with their energetic, charming repertoire on July 20.

On July 24, Texas Hot Club of Cowtown trio (above) showcase incredible jazz and swing music, while all-female bluegrass quartet Big Richard bursts into town August 16. Folk-rock trio Sweet Remains stagger audiences with acoustic-driven, three-part harmonies on September 4.
A summer highlight is the 6th Annual Rockport Celtic Festival, September 11- 14. This captivating weekend of music, storytelling and cultural exchange gathers Celtic artists from across the world, blending Irish, Scottish, Breton, and Quebecois traditions with fresh collaborations and bold new works.

Artistic Director Maeve Gilchrist carries on the proud tradition of Festival founder, Brian O’Donovan, by assembling this all-star line-up: Open the Door for Three, pictured above, Le Vent du Nord, Alexis Chartrand and Nicolas Babineau, David Coffin, Triton Trio, Diarmuid Ó Meachair, Kyle Sanna, Ben Shattuck, Logan Coale, Mike Block, Jenna Moynihan, Abbie MacQuarrie Trio, Christina Day and Michael Leopold.
