Dutch Tall Ship Docks at Marina Bay, Quincy, July 16-19

The City of Quincy is welcoming the historic Dutch tall ship Oosterschelde to Marina Bay this weekend, as part of the City’s ongoing America 250 commemorations.  Considered one of the world’s finest restored sailing vessels, the Oosterschelde makes its ceremonial arrival on Thursday, July 16, escorted into Marina Bay by the Quincy Police Marine Unit. 

Public deck tours aboard the historic vessel are being offered on Friday, July 17, Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, giving residents and visitors a rare opportunity to step aboard a living piece of maritime history and experience one of the last authentic tall ships of its kind still sailing today.

Discover Quincy Director Dagny Ashley, whose office runs the Quincy Welcome Center across from Hancock Adams Common, says, “Quincy is always ready to give a warm welcome to tourists, sports fans, schoolchildren and group tours all through the year. This summer in particular, we invite tourists from around the world to stop by and discover what Quincy has to offer.”

Marina Bay is the centerpiece of Quincy’s coastal glory, a stunning waterfront neighborhood with restaurants, gift shops and small businesses along the boardwalk and spectacular views of Boston Harbor and the Boston skyline. Strolling along the boardwalk is a summer pastime for families, couples, and groups out on the town. And the sunsets are remarkable.

A new attraction right off the boardwalk is the Quincy Navy Park, which opened in August 2024 to pays homage to the city’s navy veterans and maritime history.

The popular Marina Bay Ferry Service operated by the MBTA, the region’s transit authority, is a convenient and relaxing way to get to Quincy by water. The Ferry runs from May to November, offering daily boat service between Quincy, Boston’s Seaport, New England Aquarium, Logan Airport, and Winthrop. It is an efficient, affordable and fun way to enjoy the beauty of Massachusetts Bay, and to avoid getting stuck in highway traffic.
