Three heroes – a world-champion boxer, a nationally renowned police chief, and a local community leader – are being recognized at this year’s Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

Irish professional boxer and Olympic gold medalist Katie Taylor (pictured) is receiving the 33rd Ambassador Award, presented to an individual or group that has worked to strengthen the relationship between the people of Ireland and the people of the United States.

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell is the recipient of the John F. Kennedy National Award, recognizing individuals whose achievements and commitment to service reflect the enduring legacy of President John F. Kennedy.

John Moriarty is this year’s Grand Marshall. A respected community leader, attorney and lifelong Holyoke resident, John served on the parade committee for 38 years, including as parade president in 2017.

Now in its 73rd year, the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade is brought to life each year by thousands of volunteers and local businesses, who oversee fundraising, logistics, marching bands and programmed events that celebrate the vibrant Irish heritage and enduring community pride of Western Massachusetts.

The 2.65-mile parade kicks off on Sunday, March 23rd at 11 a.m. from Kmart Plaza on Rt. 5 – Northampton Street and ends on High Street.
