Nick Collins Welcomes You to Southie
The annual St. Patrick’s Day breakfast is a cherished part of Irish celebrations in South Boston each March. Part sing-along, stand-up comedy and political roast, the breakfast dates back to the early 20th century and always precedes the St. Patrick’s Day parade nearby.
South Boston State Senator Nick Collins, who has hosted the St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast since 2019, once again presides over this year’s event on Sunday morning, March 15, at the Ironworkers Local 7 Union Hall in South Boston.
A lifelong resident and South Boston native, Senator Collins has represented the First Suffolk Senate District since 2018. Collins and his wife, Dr. Olivia J. Liff, are the proud parents of two daughters.
The breakfast is like a cabaret show, filled with live Irish music and sing-alongs, an Irish dance exhibit, good-humored banter between elected officials, and high praise for local police, fire and health care workers, clergy, civic leader and military veterans.
The breakfast is covered by regional media to bring access to the viewers across the region. Following the breakfast, the politicians and pundits head over to march in the nearby annual South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
