Family at Massport Logan Airport

By Irish Boston Tourism Newsroom

Boston Logan International Airport has been on quite the journey this past century. What started out in 1923 as a small field with two runways is today a world-class transportation hub with 120+ nonstop destinations.

Logan is New England’s gateway to the rest of the world, and to many international travelers, it is the world’s first introduction to America.

Noted travel writer Antonio Di Trapani has called Logan “America’s most beautiful European gateway airport,” a sentiment that underscores Massport’s ambitious efforts over the past decade to make the airport’s four terminals and surrounding infrastructure state-of-the-art modern, accessible, efficient, and yes, beautiful.

Logan offers more than 60+ non-stop international destinations to Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Central and South American and the Caribbean, and of course our beloved neighbors, Mexico and Canada. These global destinations include two of our favorite places, Shannon and Dublin, Ireland, where we are frequent fliers!

In 2026 alone, Logan has added new nonstop routes to key destinations in European cities including Barcelona and Madrid in Spain, Milan in Italy and Nice in France. In Canada, Logan has new flights to Montreal, QC and Toronto, ON, and in Haiti, to Cap-Haïtien.

FREQUENT FLIERS

Those of us who use Boston Logan as our primary airport are thrilled with our domestic and international travel options, whether it be Pittsburgh or Paris. The airport’s proximity to downtown Boston and to major roadways makes it easy to reach by car. Add thanks to upgraded public transportation – buses, subways and ferries – Logan is more accessible than ever.

Massport’s credo, “Going above and beyond,” is driven by customer service and attention to travelers’ needs. At Terminal E alone, the main international terminal, Massport has added four new gates, seven lane state-of-the-art TSA checkpoints as well as enhanced baggage claim capacity. And customer service reps are adept at Google Translate so everyone feels welcome.

Across the airport, travelers have a choice of cool dining spots – from local favorites like the Boston Bruins Bar and Wahlburgers to national brands such as Chick-fil-A. You can listen to live music from local musicians at baggage claim, and there’s even a BOS PAWS therapy dog program to reduce stress for passengers.

Massport’s credo extends beyond Logan to include its other travel facilities, Worcester Regional Airport and the Raymond L. Flynn Cruiseport in South Boston. And Massport’s waterfront properties in Charlestown, East Boston, and South Boston support the maritime industry, promote economic development, and contribute to vibrant and inclusive communities, where concerts, festivals, fish markers and farmers markets are everywhere.

Whether you are a world traveler, a frequent flier or even an occasional tourist, Logan Airport is a perfect place to start – and end – your journey.
