The High Kings

Two historic theaters – Chevalier Theatre in Medford and The Wilbur Theatre in Downtown Boston – are exquisite settings for experiencing live performances throughout the year. Both theatres are operated by veteran promoter Bill Blumenreich who books an innovative line-up of small and large-scale music and dance, stand-up comedy and theater productions year-round.

This St. Patrick’s Day season and into spring, audiences are looking forward to some amazing Irish performers at the top of their fields in music, dancing and comedy.

An art-deco landmark that opened in 1939, Chevalier Theatre has been a center piece of cultural Medford for nearly nine decades. In March, the 1,900-seat theatre welcomes two special performances celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

On March 13, Dancing with the Celts takes the Chevalier stage with an entourage of virtuoso musicians from Dublin and Nashville, joined by world-class dancers representing Irish and Appalachian traditions.  The Celts perform a fresh hybrid of Irish Americana, blending their own traditional roots and tight vocal harmonies with fiery Irish traditional instrumentals.

The following night, March 14, Ireland’s beloved ballad singers The High Kings showcase their high-energy, harmonic style of traditional music. Formed in Dublin in 2007, the quartet features some of Ireland’s finest singers, whose blended voices and harmonies give them a distinctive sound all their own.

Seven miles away in downtown Boston, The Wilbur also boasts a unique architectural character and charm. Designed by noted Boston architect Clarence H. Blackall, The Wilbur opened in 1914 and quickly attracted local and national talent. In 1980, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places for its distinctive architecture.

On March 7, Irish comedian David Nihill returns to The Wilbur Theatre with his brand new “Taking Tangents Comedy Tour.” The Dublin native has performed in 12 countries, sharing his hilarious insights on immigrants, drinking and other cultural observations.

On April 10, Irish comic Jarlath Regan brings his “Gas Man Comedy Tour” to The Wilbur. Originally from Co. Roscommon, Regan began his career as a social media star on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube before moving into stand-up comedy, where he tours the world and is hailed as a ‘comedy genius.’
