Summer Fun At ICC
By Irish Boston Tourism Newsroom
The craic at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton never get old, and that’s just one of many reasons to visit this beautiful facility just outside of Boston. There’s nothing as enjoyable as having a good time in a relaxed atmosphere while gathering with old friends and meeting new ones, all centered around a shared love of culture and heritage.
This summer the craic is particularly great, with a full schedule of live music and dancing, social gatherings and galas, exciting Gaelic games, activities for families, children and seniors, plus a reimagined Heritage Pub & Restaurant with great food and drinks.

Let’s start with music and dance, which is always stellar thanks to ICC’s program manager and champion step dancer Declan Crowley. May sees the return of beloved singer/songwriter Neil Byrne, a lead singer in Celtic Thunder, and Tyrone-born Irish folk singer Bernadette Morris, pictured above, making her ICC debut.
Donegal famous quartet Onóir returns on June 7, followed by super-vocal trio Don Stiffe, Ger O’Donnell and Trevor Sexton on June 27. On July 19, Tyrone-born and Nashville-based rising country artist Gareth makes his inaugural appearance at the Irish Cultural Centre!
In addition to the live concerts, you can enjoy set dancing on Monday nights with Cait Bracken and traditional sessions on Friday nights led by John Kearney and Eamon McGrath.

Other summer highlights include the stylish Galway Races Gala which returns on July 24-25, complete with high fashion and audacious hats, fancy cocktails and dancing and thrilling competitions.
On August 16, the Annual 50/50 Draw at the Centre is a chance to win cash prizes while benefiting ICC’s year round mission to preserve and promote Irish culture and heritage through its programs.
The Heritage Pub & Restaurant at the Centre has been reimaged this spring, with a delicious new menu and a fresh team behind the bar led by manager Emmett Donovan. A long-time gathering spot for live entertainment, televised GAA and rugby matches and this summer, streams of the World Cup Soccer matches in June and July. The Heritage Pub is open Thursdays and Fridays starting at 5 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays starting at Noon. On Saturday night from 5-8pm, you can now enjoy live music featuring local artists.

The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) season takes center-stage each year from May through August, featuring some of the best Gaelic football, hurling and camogie you’ll find! The GAA Semi Finals Weekend is August 1-2, and the GAA Finals Weekend is August 8-9.
This year’s season finale is special this year, when the USGAA North American Finals take place at the Centre from August 14-16, bringing teams from all across the USA and Canada to compete for top honors.
Looking ahead to fall, the Irish 5K Road Race and Children’s Fun Run takes place on September 13, and this year’s Boston Irish Beer Fest is October 3.
