The Gloucester Hornpipe and Clog Society at Milton Public Library
November 8 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Free
This will be a fun and lively one-hour musical event with the Celtic folk group The Gloucester Hornpipe and Clog Society.
The group performs a range of Celtic (Irish and Scottish), maritime, French Canadian, Swedish and original songs and tunes. Hornpipes and Clogs are traditional Celtic dances, and some performances have included traditional Irish dancers. Current band members include co-founder David (“Doc”) Rosen on percussion, Nancy Koch on accordion, guitar and tin whistle, Ben Bruno on fiddle and guitar, and Linda Abrams on banjo. The group has performed for decades in New England and twice, by invitation, at an international folk festival in Ireland. A special band member at this MPL event will be Owen Hartford, a longtime Milton resident and co-founder of the group.
The Gloucester Hornpipe and Clog Society, founded in 1975, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The band welcomes audiences to sing along with and dance to their music, and they love to include people of all ages – so bring the kids along!
Please join host Jean Hlady for an enjoyable afternoon of music in this second concert in the Fall series. For more info, contact the Reference department at reference@milton.ocln.org or (617) 898-4964.
