WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT IRELAND

When it comes to proclaiming Ireland's countless charms, there is no shortage of sources! Look to the poets and songwriters, the travel writers and bloggers, and to visitors themselves if you want to appreciate what makes Ireland such as magical place to visit, not just in summer, but all year round.

For many of us, Ireland is more than a visitor destination, it is a place for discovery, renewal and inspiration! In the spirit of Tourism Ireland's new marketing campaign, "Fill Your Heart With Ireland" here are our reflections and recommendations!

Start with the People. The saying goes that Ireland's best export is its people, but the ones who stayed behind are equally spectacular! Over the centuries, the Irish have perfected the art of hospitality, and the land of 100,000 welcomes is an accurate account of what to expect. Our visit took us to many parts throughout the island of Ireland, from Dublin to Antrim, then down to Tipperary, Clare, Limerick and up to Offaly-deeper into the Hidden Heartlands. Even with the incredible scenery, sounds and cuisine we enjoyed, the people of Ireland remained foremost in our memories after we returned home to Boston.

Next, check out the Craic, because having fun in Ireland is a mandatory part of the Irish experience. The Irish use this Gaelic word frequently to serve a whole range of meanings, from fun and joy to wit, humor and good conversation. You'll find the craic everywhere: from festivals and concerts to pubs and even chance encounters on the street. As a land of storytellers, poets, musicians, actors and even comedians, the Irish have mastered the art of the craic, and pursue it wherever they go. You should too!

And finally, make your way to the Coast! During our trip to Ireland last summer, we explored the incredible Causeway Coast in Northern Ireland, stopping for a few nights in Portrush and making day trips to the Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede, Dunluce Castle and the charming town of Bushmills and the village of Ballintoy which has become a tourist hotspot not only for the stunning views but more recently for its claim to fame in the iconic Game of Thrones.
