South Boston Celebrates USA 250th Birthday

The South Boston Vietnam Memorial Committee is holding a special ceremony to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States at Medal of Honor Park in South Boston.  The event begins with music from the Marine Corps Band, followed by a speaking program.

After the speaking program, the  U.S. Marine Corps holds a wreath-laying ceremony, followed by the Silent Drill Platoon, an elite 24-man ceremonial rifle unit that performs precisely synchronized drills with hand-polished rifles and fixed bayonets, completed without spoken commands.
