BOSTON TOURISM GROUP ISSUES FREE SUMMER
TRAVEL & CULTURE MAGAZINE
ON MASSACHUSETTS AND IRELAND
(BOSTON) -- The Boston Irish Tourism Association (BITA) has released its 2023 summer/fall issue of Travel & Culture magazine,a free travel guide highlighting Irish and Celtic festivals, concerts and cultural and sporting events taking place in New England, as well as travel tips for visiting Ireland this summer and fall.
This issue has feature stories on the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum in Boston and the JFK Museum in Hyannis, Cape Cod, Irish heritage and gift shops South of Boston, and
details on new books by writers David Green, Padraig O’Malley and Kevin Kenny. Two fine Irish fiddlers who died during the pandemic, Roger Burridge and Jimmy Devine, are profiled for their enormous contributions to traditional music in New England.
The Boston Irish Famine Memorial in downtown Boston is featured on the occasion of its 25th anniversary this summer, along with profiles on three landmarks with Irish connections: the Commodore John Barry plaque on Boston Common, Swan Boats in the Public Garden, and the Rose F. Kennedy Park and Greenway along the waterfront. A walking map of Boston’s Irish Heritage Trail is included, along with descriptions of the 20 downtown sites.
The Ireland section features a travelogue on a family reunion in Tipperary, discovering the People, the Craic and the Coast of Ireland and upcoming tours to Ireland with Brack Tours Ltd and Cara Group Travel. A story on Sustainable Ireland offers tips on how to enjoy Ireland while protecting its ecosystem and environment.
BITA is celebrating its 23rd anniversary as a year-round, cultural tourism organization that promotes cultural activities in New England states with a focus on the Irish-American community.
BITA’s Travel & Culture magazine is published each March, June and November. The 24-page color magazine is distributed free at visitor kiosks and cultural venues throughout New England, and is available in digital format online. BITA also oversees the Boston’s Irish Heritage Trail, which highlights Irish landmarks throughout Boston and around the state. See the back cover for a walking map.
